Your pet and your friend's pet may be affectionate, lovable, and at times give a sense of "comfort", but it's important to know that the comfort that your pet brings cannot be reliably counted upon for its clinical benefit. It has also been clearly established that some pets, such as turtles, are unable to give any kind of comfort at all.

Please do not use your pet or anyone else's pet to derive comfort while under the care of a doctor and receiving a prescribed regimen of comfort for a medically diagnosed condition. Your pet is not a substitute for carefully controlled and doctor supervised comfort.
