I donno. It doesn't have to be a dragon. The gist is: spending your life not being believed about something feels maddening to the point where you have to, before you die if possible, surrender to the fact that you and the dragon are trapped together in the little dungeon thing, that's not big at all and is really just a giant cube inside.

So it's a big long book of metaphors about the outside and the inside and possible exits where you could at least let the light shine in and say to someone standing outside, "hey, fyi, I'm trapped in here with a dragon."
